Join us at the Academy for Global Citizenship for our Back to School community bike ride!

We’ll kick off from the Academy for Global Citizenship at 44th & Lavergne (just west of Cicero) for a fun, safe, family-friendly ride through the neighborhood. We’ll stick exclusively to the side streets and only cross major streets like Cicero at a traffic light.

Join Kidical Mass for a slow, easy-going, fun, group ride focused on kids (all ages) and families that will tour the Lincoln Park neighborhood and beyond.

Gather at the Tin Man statue at Oz Park (corner of Larrabee and Lincoln) at 9 am for a 9:15 am departure. Each ride will end at a fun destination in the community.

RIDE GUIDELINES:

• Please wear helmets and ride safely.

• Rides are typically 2-4 miles at a 5-6 mph pace, roughly 1 hour with stops.

• Rides are suitable for children who have progressed beyond training wheels.

• Younger children are welcome on trail-a-bikes, child trailers and child seats on their parent's bike.

• Festive dress and decorations encouraged.

• It is expected that all kids bring a parent or guardian with a bike.

• This event will will be cancelled in the event of rain

Kidical Mass is a hyperlocal family-friendly bike ride that is perfect for meeting neighbors, riding with kids as cargo, and for new two wheeled riders (training wheels not recommended). Bring the little ones and join us for a bike ride tailored for all ages and skill levels, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. We'll cruise through Evanston's charming streets, creating lasting memories, and promoting a love for cycling among the next generation. Like the Tuesday evening adult rides, these family excursions are free of charge—just bring your helmets and let's roll! REGISTER HERE so that we know how many riders to expect on this date.

• Start: This ride will leave from Raymond Park at 10AM (please arrive early to get situated -- time for kids to play and adults to socialize)

  • The Evanston Parks & Recreation Department will be on-site at the start of the ride with free giveaways for riders, as well as information on local bike routes and general bike safety!

• Approx. Distance (1-Way): 3.0 miles

• Destination/Theme: Perkins Woods
